Val – it would be me. I wear all that. The stockings, skirt and/or boots when I go to church but I’m usually in pants. I want to see what people would think of me if I dress that way in the summer.

Perhaps such a “lady” is , I think the correct term would be, “Goth”. Otherwise, high temperatures and humidity cause people to broil in such outfits.

Beliefs (church/cult…whatever), to hide defects (ugly legs, knotted toes) or other body embarassments, or because (although it might look strange & is probably uncomfortable) perhaps she’s comfy because she’s just used to wearing that.

Black stockings, definitely not comfortable in the summer; long skirts, ok, if they’re gauzy and light weight. I own several that I wear in the summer. Boots? No way, although I love boots in the winter months.
She’s dressing that way IN THE SUMMER, if, and I’m assuming, she is combining all three elements (stockings,boots, skirts), to make a statement. She probably has friends who dress the same way. It’s like a “club” mentality, when people all dress the same way. They want to stand out as “different.” It’s kind of funny really, because they are just conforming to another standard of dress. Everybody does it in a way.

I don’t see why you’re so concerned about it. I’d like it if more women dressed like that, summer or anytime.
