Who do women dress for, the debate rages on……..i have heard and read a great many answers?

I know that when a woman is asked who she dresses for they will always say women but would they actually admit it if they weren’t? Everything about the female body is designed to attract or arouse a man so how can you claim that highlighting your legs or cleavege is dressing for other women.. if you feel sexy in an outfit, it would imply that you are aware of the effect it will have on the opposite sex or even the same sex depending on preference ) because the word sexy cannot be applied if referring to a friend or relative ie. only the reaction of a stranger or partner can make one feel sexy, you cannot feel sexy for the sake of feeling sexy. How can your sister or cousin make you feel sexy? another thing that intrugues me on the subject... »View More

I’m looking for a checklist on what type of professional clothes women should have–like a black skirt, black pants, suit, etc…something that I can go through my wardrobe and check off, then over time, buy what I need. I’m seriously lacking in dress clothes and will need them. My previous job was jeans and khaki’s and now I’m in suits and professional dress. HELP!  »View More

Where can I buy an extra-small black dress with a long skirt and long sleeves for under $100?

I’m after a long skirt (calf length or more) with long sleeves (elbow length or more) in XS or XXS. (Women’s sizes are screwed up so I can’t tell you a precise dress-size — I can be as small as a 00 or as big as a 6 depending on the designer.) It needs to be under $100 US, and preferably under $40. The Goodwill, and all second-hand stores, depend a lot on luck — About half the time I go there they don’t have anything that will fit. J.C. Penny never seems to have anything longer than knee length. My measurements are screwy because I have a 22 inch waist and 35 inch hips.  »View More

What is the appropriate dress for a female visitor in a Hasidic home?

I am a female reformed Jew and will be paying a shiva call in the home of a Hasidic rabbi. I don’t own any ankle length skirts as the hasidic women wear, is it acceptable for me to wear a conservative black dress that falls just below the knee if I pair it with thick opaque black tights?  »View More

What should a 13 year old girl living CA dress up as for Halloween?

I want to be able to dress up as what ever it is with my own clothes. Or clothing/accessories I can purchase easily. Im thinking about going as a woman from the 1900’s. With a cream colored blouse, black long skirt. But… I think that’ll be weird… I dont want stuff like witches, princess, fairies… And we cant wear micro mini skirts, tank tops, halters, spaghetti straps, ect.  »View More

I have always thought that women were supposed to wear a nice dress or skirt to church but people seem to?

think otherwise nowadays. At a friend’s church its not uncommon to see women wearing dress pants, I have even seen them wear black jeans before. What I want to know is why women are dressing like this now and don’t you think there should be some kind of decency? It used to be that women were modest and wore a hat and gloves to church but nowadays I rarely see a woman even wear a hat to the service. I have seen young women wear skirts shorter than the knee and also shirts that are sleeveless or show cleavage. As a man, what should I do about it? It’s been bothering me for quite some time and I feel that my church is already headed that way.  »View More
