I was at Giant Eagle in line and this cute older woman who was about 30 that looked very hot but prob was a snob in the inside was wearing a wool coat with a sexy skirt and I saw her take a piece of candy when noone was looking and she sneakily put it in her purse without looking around and she pretended to read her own magazine she brought and pick up something she dropped and just pickpocketed some expensive gum like super fast that no one would notice she even stole and looked around suspicious and I thought: “WOW THAT BABE HAS SKILLS AS A THIEF!” and it was so busy that no one saw it but hell if I worked there, I would have pulled her aside and talked to the manager or security because thats just wrong and illegal! But did I do the right thing minding my own business or should I have squealed? I dont like sticking my nose in peoples business and I rather the store clerks do something about that for themselves since it isnt my job.
However, even if something isnt my job, I still like to order people around if they are wrong and stand up for myself like if they cut in front of me or if they are in someones way, do I have a right to say: “Hey excuse me. Watch behind you. Someone is trying to get through.” and if I dont work there, do I have a right to say that to people and order them around as being kind of someone in charge. Let me know your thoughts on those 2 things.

I probably would have done the same thing, however the rifgt thing to do would be to report them.
no one likes a snitch
If its not my place of employment I would mine my business.
Many times, store workers aren’t even allowed to confront shoplifters. When I worked in retail, we were just supposed to ignore it. Only security could do something about it, but we never had any around.
It’s never a good idea to confront a thief. The best thing to do would have been to find security (if the store had any) and let them know what was going on, or at least tell a manager or another worker, just in case there was something they can do. If they didn’t see it happen, though, they may not be able to do anything.
some very expencive gum? where do you shop? i dont no proble not ur place to say something stealing is bad but it wont kill any one
I was in Woolworths in the UK and watched a man put a magazine down his trousers, I went and told the cashier and pointed him out and she just said ‘oh well, not worth me saying anything for a magazine!! I really should have reported her for not doing her job properly.
Well I guess i would tell somebody….maybe not a worker but just sombody…..
You should have turned her in. If she’ll steal candy, she will steal bigger merchandise, too. One reason prices are so high is that merchants need to cover the loss from shoplifting.
Yes, you should speak up about other people being in someone’s way. If you say it pleasantly, you’re not likely to tick anyone off.
When I was in college, I worked in retail, and we were told not to confront a shoplifter. We were, however, instructed to inform management or security.
For a piece of candy, I doubt if I would attempt to ruin a person’s life, but if it was something of a much greater value, I would say something, because in the end, we all wind up paying for that.
Do the lady a favor and turn her in. Not to a cashier, but someone in management or the people by the door. If you have a camera phone snap a picture, snap her taking things. She is probably a klepto. She needs help.
Well you should discreetly tell the manager. Just remember that when a store loses money and profits we all have to pay by higher prices.
You should have gone to the customer service desk and asked for the manager to report what you saw.
Shoplifting is quite expensive and those costs are passed on to the consumers in the form of higher prices, so you and fellow honest shoppers will soon pay for what she stole, so she in fact stole from you.
You probably should have mentioned something offhandedly to the cashier and the cashier could have taken it from there.
Once in high school there was a real wench who for some reason didn’t like me. Anyways a lot of kids went to the mall after school, then caught the public transit bus to go home. After getting on the bus I saw this girl with a ferret stuffed into her jacket. She was bragging about stealing it from the pet store. I felt bad for the ferret because if she couldn’t afford the pet, how the heck was she going to afford to feed it and take care of it? I went back into the pet store, told them what I had seen, they went to count the ferrets, and sure enough one was missing. She girl was caught. HAHAHA karma will prevail everytime!
