Like I said before, this is not a damn Public Service Announcement and this is not me force feeding you anything. I searched for facts because I care about MY DAMN hair and the things I put IN or ON my hair. That led me to go natural a couple months ago (9 months strong). And this is not me telling you what to do. Most of my viewers are grown and know what they want in life and if you are truly happy, then you shouldnt get angry..lol. If you agree then you agree, regardless, you should voice your opinions as to WHY you dont agree. If you cant do it in an EDUCATED way or explain your STAND by making sense, then please move to the next video. This video is about hair relaxers and the information that I have gathered from the following sources. FDA – www.cfsan.fda.gov www.hairboutique.com www.hairlosstreatmentforbaldness.com www.scalp-hair.co.uk/casestudies.asp www.hairboutique.com At the end of the day, it is UP to you and regardless of if you choose to perm, dye, fry, dread, braid, etc your hair is YOUR HAIR and you need to have some type of INTEREST in your HAIR and HEALTH. Keeping your hair natural is NOT just a simple task, and neither is relaxing your hair a quick fix. Read UP about your hair please, if its the one thing you do for yourself. www.meshplex.org www.meshplex.org www.associatedcontent.com

I mean this video leaves good info i use my natural hair but if a woman goes to a GOOD black salon and get a relaxer they wil be fine. I Know alot of people with long relaxed hair no weave..so its up to each person to learn to care for their hair properly.

It is like we become addicted to it because we have been using relaxers for so long. I love your vid and I love not having to ge a relaxer. I just need to know how to work my hair once it grows back.

Once one is educated and warned, then you can say if they “choose” to still go forward and put these things on their scalps that the consequences are self-inflicted. Beyond beauty or “brain-washed” ideals of beauty (i.e. straight hair is more beautiful), one cannot ignore that these chemicals have the potential of passing into the very bloodstream. It then becomes an issue of “slow suicide by chemicals for the purpose of looking “cute”? (european cute???) love thyself. thank you for the video.

Sure from time to time I miss the straight look and when I do I just break out my flat iron …also suprisingly the samething I used to do when I had relaxed hair…but my hair is fuller and not stick thin….Just a thought. I’m loving my “REAL HAIR”

So for 2 months straight I had wore a weave to take a break from relaxing.EVERYTIME I took my hair down it was long(er). I started to think about all the times I had long(er) hair.I took a break from relaxing (meaning not every month or 2 like most ppl). So I just stopped relaxing all together. I still follow the same regimen wash once a week apply oil every other day and a moisturizer everyday. Oddly enough approx 2 years later my hair is well past my shoulders. Hmm…

Think back to those pix of you when you were 4. REMEMBER how soft &long your hair looked. Then all of a sudden someone told you , you “NEEDED” a relaxer. Then look at your pix a little later like 12ish, Hair look thinner? Try about 16ish Hair looks shorter?….That’s what happened to me and most about 70+% of the ppl I know. I always wanted hair past my shoulders. So from time to time I would wear weaves/wigs etc. But it wasn’t real it wasn’t AUTHENTIC.

Flat Iron and Heat protect-ant. It will be as straight as if you had a relaxer. Look up videos, Natural hair can be just as straight. Its also more healthy AND versatile! :)

dude, a guy with curly hair will get a hell of a lot more attention than a dude with straight hair. you know why? Because STRAIGHT hair is TYPICAL. ur different so why not look like it? dont kill ur hair with heat and chemicals.

if you use the right products you don’t have to relax toyr hair use wen hair care it works wonders. and no a child should not be getting their hair relaxed.

But chemical hair straightening is wake up and go, eh?

What happens when you go to the beach and you don’t want to put your hair up? It will be curly as hell eh? As a guy, would it look bizarre if you jumped in the ocean with straight hair, and came out, it dried, and you had curly hair?

Random question. I’m a guy. Long hair here for the first time ever, in my mid 20s. I’m actually less than 10% black, but you’d never be able to tell. But my hair, oh man, when my hair gets long, it gets so curly, but just in the back. Puffy and what not. I hate flat ironing but I do. Should I get a chemical hair straightening? Would save so much time. Obviously worried about potential side effects, such as harsh treatment on hair, pulling the hair, and chemical burns. Tips?

So what if you’re a black male with naturally curly hair and you want your hair straight what should you do or use to straighten your hair?

I am 16 years old now, and have been getting relaxers since I was probably 6 years old. I used to have gorgeous, thick, curly hair. I still do have nice hair, but I wish I had a chance to decide if I wanted a perm or not. I thank god for my black and partially native American heritage, because I have very strong hair that can handle chemicals.

thing is i have been getting perms since i was like 8 when it burns wash it out. do not scratch your head before you get a perm. it doesn’t burn my hair out. i perm my mothers hair and it grows longer i use a regular Dr.miracle’s perm. and my hair gets longer I’m 13 now.

sorry had to finish what i was saying….. since then my hair would get nappy and dry and unmanageable unless i permed it every now and then and keep oil in it…my hair has gotten back to a little bit of how it was before..although with the perms, my hair still grows as fast as it did before. from top of my ear to shoulder length in 5 mths..good luck to all ya girlz!!!

i know what ya mean. i used to never had to relax my hair and it was always straight, shiny and free flowing and grew fast (i kept cutting it though short). then i used dr. miracle’s one time and it burn my hair out to less than an inch short.

Whenever I had my natural hair I had to wet it everyday just to have it curl up. And, what do you look like? How does your hair look? Write back.

I believe natural is always healthier. I have straighten my hair since i was 16 and i’m now 43 and finally i have the nerve, confidence, self esteem and self worth, to express myself in an authentic way. I’m not here to judge. I just know better so i try to live better. Black women have straighten their hair to fit into society. To be accepted. Of course they will say it’s easier to manage, well this day in age there are products you can use to better manage natural hair. I love my hair.

Afro hair needs constant combing, i should know coz i had afro hair up unti 15, wen ur hair is straight u dnt need to comb it every day the more u comb the more hair wil break, it’s not about growing ur hair, it is about keeping the hair on ur head. go to TheTruthisHair on youtube a black woman wiv hair down hair back that has been relaxed!!!
