I think it also good to hear it directly from the horses mouth so it can sink in a little deeper for me that there are actually idiots out there that really HATE themselves. i agree wat u were sayin completly but sum ppl who commented need to grow up becus i have naturally curly but i got it relaxed but my hair is so thick that the relaxer doesnt last long so the only way for me to be able to manage my hair is to get a curly perm and i dont wana be white i liek my skin color the way it is and wouldnt change it in for the world so sum of yall need 2 no wat yall talkin bout and stop assuming you no it all cus u dont

OMG!! Thats riduculous Latoya is psychotic and crazy! These people hate who they are! Anybody who will bleach their skins are insane, delusional, and out right stupid! They are basically saying they hate Gods work which is themselves. It bothers me when people who are dark as hell are bleaching their skines, and wearing blonde hair. no, im being totally serious. Latoya Jackson was on tv the other nite talkin bout how she & her late brother michael jackson MULTIPLE times weekly went to this dermatologist to get their skin lightened. she had the balls to say that she doesnt want to look ” too black “. its retarded mindsets like that that make me want to scream ! i know of 3 girls that i knew from college who lightened their skin signifigantly plus they permed their hair bone-straight & wear hazel and/or green color contacts

when i saw the special on BET about the alarming percentage of black women who are bleaching their skin, perming their hair bone-straight & wearin blue and green color contacts, i was troubled. i heard sister after sister making crazy ass comments, talkin bout how they want to look “pretty” like “white girls” & hearin young african-american making statements like that shocked the hell out of me ! we need to tell our young sisters that they’re beautiful & dont have to radically alter their looks

. I agree. I have a relaxer but I don’t go hating on girls who have natural hair. My sister and aunt rock them beautifully and I have nothing against it. Relaxers, Weaves and Natural hair and Pressed hair, I consider, are ways to style black hair. When i google black hair, natural hair isn’t the only thing that comes up. So Yeh love your vid

Our people were CONDITIONED to hate themselves and it’s so sad that you don’t even see that. You say that more and more so-called BW are being seen as beautiful in mainstream media, it’s true only for the ones who posses the most features that looks caucasian. Wake up and smell the coffee it’s 2009 and it’s a shame that many of you so-called black women are still blind to see the bigger picture. Slavery never went away it just gotten more sophisticated.

Of course so-called black women who perm their hair are trying to be like a white woman which is the same reason why a lot of you so-called black women bleach your skin, and where blue or green eye contacts in order to look as caucasian as you can. I think the word ‘preference’ is just an excuse for ppl to justify themselves and hide the real reason why they do things and in this case you’re using ‘preference’ to hide the self hate that BW have.

well before i even clicked on this video i already knew you would say it’s “easier to manage”.
fact: if you have hair on your head, you’re going to have to manage it, PERIOD.
& what gets me is women waste thousands of dollars a year on perms and straighteners, spending hours in salons, yet that’s supposedly “easier”.
if you think a eurocentric hair texture is more attractive, and if you have to relax your hair in order to feel confident, then YES it is a form of self hate!

Your have a good point however Madame CJ Walker didnt created the relaxer or hot comb..Garrett Augustus Morgan created the relaxer in 1910 by mistake.Relaxers are man made and people dont know about half of the chemicals in a relaxer, all she did was create somthing for scalp problems that caused hair lose…not relaxers,Yes I Am Natural but i know about all kind of hair, over all it is a choice
